NORDIC NIGHTS

Nordic Risk Takers

NordicLA is proud to present David Heinemeier Hansson, the man who can do it all.
Not only has he created Ruby on Rails, an open-source web framework used by Shopify and Airbnb among others, founded Basecamp, an organized way to manage projects and communicate company-wide, while also being a Le Mans and WEC class-winning driver
You would think that would be enough accomplishments for a whole lifetime, right? Not for David, besides being a powerhouse when it comes to programming, he is a best-selling author of the books REMOTE and REWORK.
We cannot wait to see you for a night of food, drinks, inspiration and a lot of networking possibilities.

Art Talk

Art Talk with focus on the contemporary Danish artist Danh Vo

Danh Vo is a Vietnamese-born Danish performance-art inspired conceptualist. Educated in Copenhagen and Frankfurt, he was awarded the prestigious Hugo Boss Prize in 2012. When Danh Vo was 4 years old, his family fled South Vietnam in a homemade boat and was rescued at sea by a Danish freighter. The family settled in Denmark, and their assimilation into European culture and the events that led up to their flight from Vietnam are reflected in Danh Vo's art.

Even though his art practice is highly internationally orientated, it maintains traces of a specific Nordic tradition as well. His work is informed by a certain inspiration and sensibility deriving from for instance the work of Danish 19th Century painter Vilhelm Hammershøi. Dan Vo’s artworks will fill the ramps of Guggenheim’s rotunda from February – May 2018 and after that at Statens Museum for Kunst in the fall of 2018.

PROGRAM

  • Art Talk by Marianne Torp, Chief Curator at SMK, Statens Museum for Kunst/ National Gallery of Denmark
  • Wine and danish beer will be served after the talk
